Sequence means you should have 3 or 4 cards with the same sequence [( A, 2, 3), (4, 5, 6, 7)]. The sequence plays an important role in the card game. It helps you to win the game. So you have to understand it carefully. Here are 3 categories of sequence.

Pure Sequence

First is the pure sequence, for making pure sequence in the card game we should have 3-4 cards of the same suite i.e. let’s suppose I have 3 clubs (♣) cards and I have 2, 3, A  number cards of club suite, we can say that a pure sequence is [A(♣), 2(♣), 3(♣)].

Impure Sequence

The second is an impure sequence, for making an impure sequence we use a joker/wildcard i.e. let’s suppose I have 4 cards (4, 5, 6, 7). Out of four cards, 3 (4, 6, 7)  are club cards and 1 (5) is a diamond card. We can make an impure sequence like that [4(♣), 5(♦), 6(♣), 7(♣)]. Here 5 is used as a wildcard. Instead of using a wildcard, we can also use Joker [4(♣), 5(J), 6(♣), 7(♣)]. Both are correct for impure sequence.

Sets

Set means 3-4 cards with the same numbers but different suites. You cannot make a set if you have the same suits

i.e. [9(♠), 9(♣), 9(♦)].

Here are two types sets that make a valid or invalid declaration. Now we will discuss about it.

Valid Set

A valid combination is formed when 2 or more than 3 cards are of the same rank(same number) but different suits ( spade, diamond, etc).

For example, 

Here are 5s with the same rank but different suits.

Invalid Set

An invalid combination is formed when 2 more than 3 cards are of the same suit(same signs).

For example, 

Here are 4s with the same rank but different suits.

5(♦), 5(♣), 5(♣).

There are two types of jokers in the rummy game. The first one is Printed Joker and the second one is wildcard.  Let’s discuss them below:

Printed Joker Card

In the Standard deck of 52 cards, 1-2 printed jokers are also included in it. It helps to make an impure sequence. It is used in place of a missing card. For example, if A person has 3 cards(2♣, 4♣, J) he can arrange them like this 2♣, J, 4♣  to form an impure sequence.

Wildcard Joker

In card games, we can use any card as a wild card before starting the game and all other same rank will also be used as a wild card. For example, before starting the game we choose 4♠ as a wild card, remaining same ranks will also be the wild cards(4♥, 4♣, ♦)

Imp Note:

Before declaring cards, you should have at least 1 pure sequence and 1 impure sequence. After the perfect declaration, you will win the cash prizes. Otherwise, you will lose and your points will be deducted if you declare the wrong sequence.

Therefore, it is concluded that first of all understand the cards in a deck. Remember the point values of each deck. 13 cards are distributed equally to each player. Ace can be used as the lowest or highest value points. joker and wildcard are used as helper cards in impure sequence. To win the game each player should declare at least 1 pure sequence and 1 impure sequence. The winner will win the cash prizes.
